Okay, so this is kind of random, but the folks over at Urhous, a real estate company, asked me to do an interview. They’ve done a series of these videos with past buyers, and the one they did for me went live today:

Hey boys and girls,

Saturday’s radio show with Linda Burhans was a blast. It’ll be archived on her website soon, but if you missed it and just can’t wait, visit The Choice Radio Network’s Facebook page and scroll down to April 8th at 12:01pm. The show is broken up into 2 parts, and focuses more on my book in the 2nd part. Hopefully I’ll be able to give you a link to the complete show in one piece soon.

In the mean time, Joy Johnston, over at the Memories Project wrote a fantastic review of the Fractured Memories. So head over and give her site a little love!

Happy Monday! Now go out and kick a little ass!

Thanks so much for reading my ridiculous thoughts! If you’d like to see my ridiculous thoughts translated into art, visit my website, or follow me on Facebook and Twitter. Know a caregiver, or someone with dementia, or someone who knows someone with dementia, or someone who knows someone who knows someone else who’s a caregiver? Or heck, do you know a person? Well, you should tell them about my book, Fractured Memories: Because Demented People Need Love, Too. Part memoir and part coffee table art book, I recount my family’s heartbreaking and hilarious journey through my father’s dementia. Available to purchase here (this is my favorite way if you live in the U.S.), here or here if you’d rather get the eBook than a print copy, and here (especially if you want a hard cover copy).

Hey there, shiny, happy people! On Saturday (4/8/17) at noon (EST), I’m going to be on Choice Radio Network being interviewed by Linda Burhans of Linda’s Caregiver Connections. You can read about her show here and listen live here. I believe you can listen to archived shows on her site (http://www.connectingcaregiversradio.com/), so if you’re not able to listen live, hopefully you can listen later.

As you listen, imagine me prettier and thinner than I am in real life. And imagine that I smell like I took a shower sometime in the last week.  God, I love radio. And imagine me sipping a bourbon martini glamorously while we chat. Okay, maybe a bourbon martini wasn’t a thing until now, but I trust you kickass people to make it happen.

I used to host a radio show in Virginia with my dad, and generally, this is what happened each show:

me and dad dancing at WTJU

And this is without bourbon martinis…

So expect good things. Hope you can tune in!

Watching the Dementia Progress

Alzheimer's, dementia, father, FLD, frontal lobe dementia, frontotemporal dementia, FTD, interview with dementia patient, Nick Page

Every year since 2012, I’ve sat my dad down for an interview on tape. It originally started because friends that don’t live nearby (or who were hesitant to visit him in the dementia care facility) kept wanting to know how he was. I figured the best way to show them was to videotape him and put it on his Facebook page. Then, it became kind of a project to document the progression of the disease. We become so accustomed to the new normal that it seems like he’s always been this way. But when we sat down this weekend and watched the last few interviews before taping him later that day, it was kind of shocking to see the stark contrast between the first video and the last. The first video, at the time, was hard to watch, because it was so much worse than who he’d been before the dementia, but it’s nothing compared to where he is now. I wish we had taped him after he was first diagnosed in 2008, but it just didn’t occur to me that I’d want it for reference later. The first time we taped him was about a year after he’d been in the dementia care facility. So, for anyone who’s interested, here is the series of video interviews from 2012 to the present. They’re not super exciting to watch, but it’s interesting to see how some things are so ingrained that they’ve stuck around, and others disappear with each passing year. We tried to repeat a lot of the questions from one year to the next for continuity. You can also see how heavy he’d gotten, and that he’s started losing weight now that he’s not eating compulsively.

Famous Down Under

I’m famous Down Under! Wait, that sounds wrong, like my vajayjay is famous or something. It might be legendary, but don’t worry, it has not been posing nude anywhere…at least not to my knowledge – what it does when I’m sleeping is anybody’s guess. I suspect it goes on walking tours of Big Beaver, PA. That’s a real place, y’all. As are these: http://thejetpacker.com/69-towns-and-cities-with-funny-dirty-names/.

What I really meant was that an Australian blogger has interviewed me, so that means I get to start calling myself a “world-renowned” artist. Totally legit. Plus, my friend, who desperately wants me to write more posts about bananas, lives in Europe, and she reads my blog, so that makes my claim double-legit. Okay, so maybe double-legit isn’t really a thing, but still, I’m going with it. Anyway, here is the interview that solidifies of my claim of world-renowned status:
