I have words, y’all. Great words. And I put those words in a book. A great book. I also have paintings, y’all. Great paintings. And I put those paintings in the same book, which makes it not just a great book, but a fanfreakingtastic book.

You have friends and family, y’all. Great friends and family. You know what they need for holidays? My book (if you didn’t see that coming, I’m worried about you).

What’s the book about? Life and stuff – mostly life with dementia. But you don’t need to have experience with dementia to relate to the book. Check out a summary and buy a print copy here. Or read reviews and buy an eBook here (you can also buy a print copy here, but I make virtually nothing on sales on Amazon, so it’d be great – and cheaper for you – to buy them copies through my website).

I’ve been having fun at the sip and paint studio taking old sample paintings that have gotten a little beat up and painting over them with what I call “Page’s Ponderings.” I shifted from painting quickly with thick, impasto paint for my dancer series, to precise, time-consuming painting with thin, smooth paint for my realist paintings, and I think I’ve needed something in between to bridge my brain gap. I do these paintings while I teach and am waiting for my students to catch up (so, in short bursts), and I layer and layer and play with stencils and words and cartoony images.

As part of the Page’s Ponderings paintings, I’ve done a couple that feature a little purple elephant for kids’ rooms. Here’s the first:

Several people have expressed an interest in purchasing my new book as a holiday gift. It’s part coffee table art book and part memoir, and it’s full of ridiculousness and love. I’ve been pushing the publisher to get it out in time, but they’ve been frustratingly slow with everything and are anticipating a release date in January. So, I’m offering the book for PREORDER on my own website. When you order, I’ll email you a nice little mock-up of the cover for you to print out and put in a card. You can order your copy at http://shop.emilypageart.com/products/fractured-memories.

T’is the gift giving season, and I have to honest that I’m somewhat enamored with my paintings on merchandise. I know, it’s vain. I don’t even care. Luckily, I don’t have enough money to fill my house with my own art-drenched pillows, tote bags, beach towels, shower curtains, phone cases, prints on wood, mugs, etc. But you do! Knowing that sometimes people have a hard time envisioning it, I’m going to make it easy on you. Here are several of my paint and sip studio’s paintings and personal paintings on throw pillows. The same paintings and others are available on a wide variety of merchandise. Click on the title below each picture to purchase and/or see other options (this will take you to Fine Art America. Below the image on a throw pillow, you’ll see other merchandise. If you click on my name, it’ll take you to all of my available merchandise and prints.):

Vote For Me (But Not For President)!

Hello you lovely art lovers and blog lovers and people lovers,

I entered a contest on DickBlick.com (which looks like it should be a porn site, but I promise isn’t) and I need votes! This is so much easier than voting for president. You don’t even have to get up. Just click on this link and vote for my painting, Floating. You can vote any time between now and August 7th (but do it now before you forget).

http://www.dickblick.com/landing/gobig

You should still vote for president, too, but you’ve got some time to recuperate after voting for my painting before you have to go to the polls to elect our next Commander in Chief. If you really hate all of the candidates, you can always write in my painting for president when the time comes.

Here’s Where I Beg and Panic

bourbon, dementia, elephant art, Emily Page, Emily Page Art, father, FLD, Fractured Memories, frontal lobe dementia, frontotemporal dementia, FTD, help me get published, I'm panicking, Publishizer.com, where I beg

Hi everyone, I’m freaking out and am about to do some serious begging. Now that my dad has died and our journey through dementia is complete, I’ve decided it’s time to take the plunge and write the book. I’m in the process of compiling and adding to the writing and paintings I’ve done about my family’s experiences with dementia. I’ve launched a campaign on Publishizer.com to try to get enough pre-orders for my book to attract the attention of publishers. But I NEED HELP SPREADING THE WORD! I’ve only 30 days to get at least 250 pre-orders. For only $7, you can get a pdf copy of the book once it’s finished, and there are rewards for higher donations and purchases, much like gofundme.com or indiegogo.com. I really want to attract the attention of a publisher ASAP so that I can justify taking off a little time from work to write while everything is still fresh. You can read the book proposal and place your order here: https://publishizer.com/fractured-memories/

So do a girl a favor and tell everyone you know, and then pop over to place your order. And then pass me the bourbon because I’m about to have a heart attack. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!
