I don’t actually know if it’s been a week, or two weeks, or what. Life is a blur. Not because I’ve been doing anything particularly exciting. Mostly just because I must have traded brains with a goldfish at some point in a drunken stupor. Bourbon. It’ll get you every time, amiright? Anyway, here are some more tattoos I’ve done in the last several days:

0103191717a

Let Your Light Shine…for her grandfather, who she called Poppy.

0104191816

The sploof!! With a heart tail!

0105191631a

I love that the customer requested a snaggle tooth when I was designing this sea horse for him.

0108191900a

Memorial tattoo for her little sister.

0108192112a.jpg

A tattoo to commemorate her trip to Barcelona.

0110191717a

For a true Harry Pitter fan. She’s a Slitherin, by the way, so don’t mess with her.

I didn’t get a great, clear shot of this one, but here is Absalom, dropping some wisdom on yo’ ass.

I felt so bad for this customer. Look at the one on the left. A local tattoo shop owner did that one. The wings don’t even match each other. I was able to even them up a bit and make it more dynamic, but there wasn’t anything I could do about the fuzzy antennae.

clown tattoo, Emily Page tattoo, fox tattoo, frog tattoo, hummingbird tattoo, origami owl, owl tattoo, pet portrait, pet tattoo, poppy tattoo, raleigh tattoo, Ratatat Tats

This week started off really slowly. Like, really slowly. But it ended well. As usual, I didn’t take pics of every single tattoo I did this week, but here are some of the highlights:

Aaron Walker - dante the dog_compressed

A memorial tattoo for Dante, the mastiff/pitbull pup

clown shoes - Kathy Carson_compressed

For the professional clown who swears she can teach anyone to juggle

fox - Lindsey Easley_compressed

For a foxy lady

frog, dragonflies, butterflies - Nicole Slater_compressed

A dragonfly for each of this customer’s sons and a butterfly for each of her daughters

poppy with hummingbird - Wendy Caruolo_compressed

The customer had gotten the hummingbird with the word mom in the wings a few weeks ago. She added the poppy for her dad, who her kids called “Poppy.”

origami owl - Christine Rafter_compressed

An origami owl and first initial in honor of a little girl named Annabel whose alter ego is a superhero owl

Calf Skin Is the Best

Holy crap, I LOVE calf skin. The skin on the back of your leg, I mean, not the skin of a baby cow. And when I say I love it, I don’t mean, like, for dinner. I love to tattoo it. It is the perfect skin. It’s pre-stretched and firm as though it wants to be tattooed. It’s all, “Hey there, ladycakes, come shove some ink into me.”

So, yesterday I was supposed to do 5 tattoos, but then the weather decided to be an asshole and snow and I only got to do 2. But they were both on people’s calves and OH MY GOD I LOVE CALF SKIN!!!

Today, one of Julio’s regulars was in and I showed her pics of what I’d done yesterday and she asked me to give her a tattoo while she was in! So I got to do this little cutiepatootie.

Taylor's elephant and dandelion

And what I learned from her is that back of the neck skin is lovely. Side of the neck skin is a total asshat and is not my friend. But I’m doing my best to win it over.

I’m learning, folks, I’m learning.
